A minor update fixing the issue of the Options and other Panels not displaying for some users due to relative includes. This has been updated to absolute includes for those affected. If you can see all of your regular Newsletter Panels, this update is unnessessary.

Due to popular demand, I am re-opening the Support Forum. This is a new forum containing none of the previous posts. One thing I would like to express is that I do not promise any support for this plugin, I’m offering you the plugin as-is and I just don’t have time to do full support. I’m hoping this forum will enable you to help each other rather than relying on me for every problem. I will try to help as much as I possibly can.
I’ve also removed my Contact Form, all questions should be directed to the support forum and I will answer if I can there. Thanks!
Thanks!

All the emails finally wore me down and I spent the last two days making the Newsletter Plugin compatible with WordPress 2.5. I was going to make you all wait until Newsletter v3.0 was ready for WP 2.5 compatibility, but it’s just not coming fast enough for you folks!
Anyway, please note that the new WP Newsletter 2.2.7 is still compatible with older versions of WordPress. The biggest change to this 2.5 compatible version was the Text editor and media uploads, and in 2.5 you can only use TinyMCE or QuickTags for your Content. Any additional sideboxes or metaboxes are unable to use the Rich Text editor and will need to be written in HTML only for now.
Upgrade here or Purchase here.

Just wanted to let you guys know what’s been happening around here. I’m getting alot of emails and I’m pretty backlogged in answering them (100+ to go!) - so my apologies if I haven’t gotten back to your questions yet, I will. I had some hosting issues that have mucked with the documentation and testing site, but they are now back online.
As you may have noticed I’ve cleared out some clutter here. I’ve removed all of my other plugins as they are all outdated and I won’t be updating them here. Rest assured the Newsletter Plugin will remain in development. I know you’ve all been more than patient and I thank you for sticking with me. As some of you may or may not know, I do this development in my spare time, and unfortunately I haven’t had alot of it lately. I’m getting close to the point where I may be ready to switch and be able to focus all of my time, but it’s not quite there yet.
Great things are coming, I’m working as hard and fast as possible - there’s just not enough of me! Stick around and I promise it will be worth your wait.

For those of you thinking of upgrading to the soon-to-be-released version 2.5 of WordPress be warned that the Newsletter Plugin doesn’t work too well with it. Because of the major style and editor changes in WP 2.5, most of it is looking a bit strange and the rich text editor and media uploads are not working at all. Because of the dramatic change, WP 2.5 will not be supported until Newsletter Plugin v3.0 is ready. Soon, it will be ready soon. That is all.

I’ve added a replacement file to the downloads area for those receiving a parse error in the new version of the PHP4 Newsletter Plugin. This does not affect the PHP5 version of the plugin. This fix is for those who have already downloaded 2.2.6 and are receiving this error upon activation or upgrade. The fix is also included in the main PHP4 2.2.6 release for anyone downloading a fresh copy.

I’ve added a few more features and bug fixes to the Newsletter plugin.
- Send to WP Users - this will send to every member of your WordPress site.
- FTP Import - import your subscribers via FTP instead of using the upload form - for those having troubles.
- Duplicate Removal - Remove duplicate subscribers - I recommend backing up that subscriber database first using the Export option or a database export - just in case.
- Fixed: Include Pages now works again plus a few other minor fixes.
You will also notice now that there are 3 version of the plugin to download, this is to help fix compatibility issues with users running PHP5, so there is now a version for PHP4, PHP5 or one that works on both (it’s a bit larger download though). If you know which version of PHP your server is running use use the applicable version, otherwise if you’re not sure just use the big one that will work for either.

I will be out of country from Feb 18 - 24th, 2008 and will be unable to provide support during this time. I apologize for any inconvenience. I will also be releasing an update for the plugin soon after I return, I was hoping to have it done this week, but it’s not quite ready yet. I will address all other issues upon my return. Thank you for your support!

Many of you are unsure of how to go about updating the plugin, so here’s a quick howto for you:
- Backup old plugin - Save your current newsletter in another location just in case you made any updates or template changes.
- Backup Database - You never know when something might go wrong, so backup your database to save all those created newsletters and subscriber data! I recommend using WP-DB-Backup plugin for easy database backups (don’t forget to select the st_newsletter, st_mailinglist & st_categories tables).
- Deactivate your current version of the Newsletter Plugin from the Plugins panel and delete the ’st_newsletter’ folder from ‘wp-content/plugins/’. (Optional)
- Download, unzip and upload the new plugin to your wp-content/plugins/ folder. Enable the Newsletter plugin from the Plugins panel.
- Save Options - Go to the Newsletter panel and then the Options sub-panel and check your options, they may need some adjustments and save.
That’s all there is to it. If you have anything to add, let me know in the comments below.

I’ve just released yet another update, this one adds some protection to the Swift Tests so that only authorized users can run them - some of you were getting mystery test emails and this will fix that issue. I’ve also fixed the category sending bug that was knocking out some subscribers that were attached to multiple categories, so that alone is worth the upgrade. I’ve also done some minor tweaks here and there that some of you may notice.

P.S. To those of you I emailed yesterday I must apologize for blundering the BCC. I did put everyones address in the BCC feild in Gmail, but apparently Gmail decided to reveal everyone’s address anyway. My sincere apologies for this - it won’t happen again. I’ve been meaning to get my own newsletter going, but haven’t had the time as I’ve been putting my spare time to use helping everyone and getting updates out as well as working on version 3.0. Big changes are in store so keep your eyes open!
